Day 1:
Depart NY from JFK International Airport
Day 2:
Arrive in Dakar early this morning. You will be met and transferred to your hotel and checked in so you can rest. B. Meridien President Hotel 05 Star
Day 3:
Have a morning orientation followed with a cultural evening at Ngor village with dinner, meet and interact with the local people. Return to your hotel for overnight. D. Meridien President Hotel
Day 4:
Have breakfast. Today you’ll enjoy a full day orientation of Dakar, visiting places of interest such as, the IFAN Museum, the Soumbedioune village and the Sand painting gallery, the presidential palace, mosque and local market, then return to your hotel for overnight. B/L. Meridien President Hotel
Day 5:
After breakfast today depart for a pilgrimage to Goree Island, visit the slave house, a very important departure point for many Africans who were sold into slavery in the Americas. Other places of interest will be the museum and school. Lunch will be served on the beach at a Senegalese restaurant. B/L. Meridien President Hotel
Day 6:
After breakfast depart for Pink Lake. Visiting the Pink Lake, you’ll learn about the salt industry in Senegal. You’ll also enjoy a ride in 4x4 driving through the Sand dunes. You’ll visit a typical Fulani village; have lunch before you return to Dakar. B/L. Meridien President Hotel
Day 7:
Today you will learn about some of the important people in Senegalese history. Beginning with a full day tour to Thaytou, the native village of Cheikh Anta Diop where he is buried. Learn more about this great African pan leader. Then proceed to the holy city of Touba where you’ll also learn about Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba, the founder of the Mouridism Brotherhood & culture, a sect of the Moslem religion. Have lunch before returning to Dakar in the late afternoon. B/L. Meridien President Hotel
Day 8:
After breakfast, depart for the Gambia, enroute visit the native village of Alex Haley (Juffureh). Arrive in Banjul in the late afternoon. Have dinner and overnight at your hotel. B/D. Ocean Bay 05 Star
Day 9:
After breakfast enjoy a full day orientation of the city of Banjul. Visit schools or the University. Then proceed to the museum to learn about the life and culture of the people. Gambia was also a departure point for some Africans sold into slavery. Dinner will be served at the hotel. B/D. Ocean Bay
Day 10:
After breakfast, depart for Dakar. Stop to have lunch at Saly resort before proceeding to Dakar. Check in at your hotel and rest. B/L. Meridien President Hotel
Day 11:
Transfer to the airport to board your flight for NY arriving today
