Summer Language and Culture Camp

SENEGAL

This program is specially designed for the cultural enrichment of American youngsters. Here in this safe, stable and friendly West African country, they will experience the life and culture of Senegal under Sunny Blue Skies at the beach of M’Bour Saly while being totally immersed in the culture, and French and Wolof languages.

The 15-day program includes:

  • 3 meals & beverages daily
  • Accommodation at the Man Terral Gan Campement (trip or quad)
  • Excursion Tours (Goree Island with visits to slaves’ house, city tour of Dakar, Pink Lake, Bush tour to visit the ethnic villages)
  • Evening sessions for lessons on cooking, hair trading, drumming and dancing, French & Wolof courses
  • Leisure activities: beach games, swimming, soccer (volleyball, etc.) games for girls and boys
  • Ample opportunities to practice foreign languages and interact with Senegalese students
  • English speaking chaperones and guides
  • Pre-departure orientation materials

Kid's African Adventure–Kenya, East Africa

DAY 1

Evening: Departure from NY’s JFK International Airport.

DAY 2

Evening: Arrival in Nairobi, Kenya. Our representative outside customs hall will meet you. Transfer to hotel.
Dinner with full briefing and overnight at the hotel. D

DAY 3

A morning visit to the local fruit, vegetable, and Meat/poultry market. Lunch at ‘Steers’, a burger place. In the afternoon, visit the National Museum of Kenya
with a professional guide for an educational tour. Thereafter, visit the Giraffe Manor, home to the endangered species of the Rothschild Giraffe.
Dinner and overnight at the hotel. B/L/D

DAY 4 and DAY 5

08h30: Drive to Lake Nakuru National Park located 180 kms north of Nairobi in the bed of the Great Rift Valley. This alkali lake, surrounding a 392-km national park, is home to over a million pink flamingos as well as Kenya's premier Rhino Sanctuary; today home to over 70
black and white rhinos.
You’ll spend 2 nights at the LAKE NAKURU LODGE. The students will visit the Rhino Research program as well as the Re-forestation program.

DAY 6 and DAY 7

07h30: After breakfast, drive to Masai Mara Game Reserve.
Arrive for lunch at MARA FIG TREE TENTED CAMP. You’ll spend 2 nights here.
Masai Mara has the largest concentration of wildlife in Kenya with over 400,000 mammals and all the "Big Five."
Students will experience a 'nature walk accompanied by Rangers, learn the values of a variety
of wild trees and flowers, and see smaller insects. They will also visit the local Masai school interacting with the students and sharing their cultures. Masai students will show your students how to build a fire in the wild with sticks and stones!

MARA FIG TREE CAMP

DAY 8

06h30: Early morning game drive, followed by breakfast.
Return to Nairobi; Lunch at the ‘Carnivore’ restaurant. In the afternoon we can arrange for an exchange visit with one of the local schools around Nairobi and if time Allows, play a friendly match of a sport of choice.
Early Dinner at a local Pizza Outlet. Transfer to the airport for departure to the United States. B/L/D

Arrive at Newark or NY’s JFK International Airport.

This program is recommended for schools or institutional groups looking to add an exciting experiential learning opportunity to their annual calendar. We recommend, dependent on each respective school/institution’s rules and regulations, that one tutor/escort accompany each group of 10-15 students.

Based on each school/institution’s preferences, we can arrange a friendly sporting competition with a local Kenyan institution, in your choice of swimming, cricket, and/or beach volleyball.
